Originally from rural Kent, I moved to Yorkshire after university in 2012 – first Leeds, then York and now just north of the border in Yarm where I live with my husband.
Whilst I have built my career in marketing and communications, I have always tried to balance this with my passion for painting, completing private commissions and exhibiting locally in restaurants, shops and through Open Studios.
As a self-taught artist, my interests are varied and often experimental in terms of style. A common thread throughout my work is the vibrancy of my use of colour.
I love the outdoors, and am a keen runner, walker and cyclist – much of my work reflects this. As a relative outsider in Yorkshire, I very much enjoy discovering new places and remain in awe of the beautiful and varied landscapes here. I have recently taken up photography and I usually work from my own photographs.
In many of my paintings I seek to capture some of the beautiful places I have visited on my travels in Europe and further afield. I am also an animal lover – and whilst my personal menagerie currently only comprises of two (much loved) cats – larger animals often feature in my work. In particular you will note my long-held fondness of elephants!
